Our Shed is based on the Men’s Shed concept which grew from an idea to provide a communal version of the typical garden workshop – a place to feel at home and pursue practical interests with a high degree of autonomy.
A “Shed” offers this to a group of people (usually men) where members share the tools, skills and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue.
They are places of…
- informal learning
- individual pursuits
- community project
- social interaction and banter
…where older men (usually) come together to work and generally have a good, fulfilling time!
Basingstoke Shed is located at Everest Community Academy, where members can use the Shed’s space, collection of tools and, by arrangement, the Academy’s extensive range of tools that include wood and metalwork lathes, pillar drills, band saws, a laser cutter and many more.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and are registered as a Charity (number 1170481).
If you might be interested in joining, or know someone who might, come along when we are open and see what we’re all about.
Our opening times are shown here.
Alternatively, get in touch through one of the ways shown on our contact page.
We look forward to meeting you!
If you want to help us promote the Shed, tell the people you know about us and how they can get in touch.
You can even click here to download our poster, print it and display it where others will see it! (We’ll be most grateful if you do!)
